Halfsheet previously mounted vintage travel poster, titled
Kongo-San, depicts the breathtaking scenery of the Diamond Mountains (Mount Kumgang) in present-day North Korea.
Produced during the period of Japanese colonial rule (1910–1945), it was commissioned by the South Manchuria Railway Company (Mantetsu), which operated the Keijo (Seoul) office. At the time, Mount Kumgang was a premier tourist destination promoted across East Asia.

Location: Kongo-San is the Japanese name for Mount Kumgang. The poster notes the location as Chosen (Korea), using the historical Japanese designation for the peninsula.
Artist: While not always signed, these posters were part of a series by the South Manchuria Railway to encourage rail and automobile tourism to scenic landmarks.
Imagery: The artwork captures the iconic "twelve thousand peaks" of the granite mountain range, featuring deep canyons and a small automobile on a narrow mountain road to highlight the region's accessibility. |
